Book Reviews

I was honestly shocked at how much I enjoyed reading “The Kingdom of Heaven is at Hand” by author Craig A. Reid. I have read many, many, many books on spirituality and Christianity and with varying degrees of satisfaction. Either I feel like I am just reading the same old recycled ideas over and over again, or that the author can come across as too “preachy” (pardon the pun), or highbrow, or holier-than-thou. (Again, pardon) and the actual message gets lost in the author’s ego.  However, I thought it was a nice change and Mr. Reid’s author ‘voice’ was more like how a friend or trusted confidante would talk to you… a much wiser, learned friend or confidant! I like that he actually pointed out… and addressed… some issues that I’ve wondered myself over the years, and while I may not totally agree with absolutely everything (naturally), so much made sense, and reading books like this by others who feel the same is something that gives me peace and strength. This is a powerful and provocative treatise; not one to be rushed, but one to be savored, analyzed, and pondered upon. Almost scary how much truth lies within these pages, even if it probably won’t change the minds of real hardliners. That’s okay there are plenty of people (like me) who appreciate new perspectives! Thank you for writing this and I look forward to reading more books from Craig Reid in the future! (4 stars)

I thought this was brilliantly crafted and plotted with meticulous attention to facts and detail and religious interpretation done in way that is readable, entertaining, and spiritually enlightening. Engaging and compelling prose to guide us through the examinations of the Bible passages Craig Reid pulls to make his points and reframe the traditional narrative regarding the End-Time Prophesies – mainly with regards to timing to consider different sequencing. Whether you take the Scripture from the Bible literally or figuratively, or even not at all, there are some very powerful arguments and stories here worthy of serious consideration. I liked the intimate tone of the author and his willingness to take on a topic from a unique perspective that some will not want to hear. I for one think it is vital that we open ourselves to all contingencies and that way we are best prepared for them all.  Thank you to Craig Reid for this book, and I do hope to read more from him in the future. This is the first book I’ve read from this author Craig Reid, but I hope it is not the last. I think he shows real talent for communicating his ideas and is delivering an important viewpoint that most people may be aware of. It’s good for them to read this book because it might help them to see some different interpretations and therefore decide for themselves what they agree with, and what they don’t. I enjoyed how the author breaks down the bigger subject of the End Days with regards to Christ and Rapture, etc… a topic that is quite large in scope and can be overwhelming at first blush. But he breaks it into different sections and gives specific examples and scriptural evidence/feedback for each aspect. Discusses controversial ideas with an intelligent earnestness supported by his personal opinions and the teachings of the Bible (nicely sourced throughout as well). Everyone could use some paradigm shifting in their lives from time to time, and this is a Excellent writing and suitable for a wide audience who wants to deeper explore and understand Christian beliefs. It is written with obvious love and respect for  our Lord and Savior and one of the more addicting and interesting books on the topic I’ve read in a long time. (5 stars)

“The Kingdom of Heaven is at Hand” by Craig Reid was actually far more compelling and deeply insightful than I first expected it to be (no offense to the author). I just wasn’t sure what I was getting myself in for, but as I started reading I was impressed by Mr. Reid’s straightforward narrative, thorough knowledge of the Bible, scripture, and of Christianity and End Time’s prophecies in general… and the way he writes and puts it all together is eye-opening, and ultimately transformative. “Kingdom…” is an absolute ‘must read’ for anyone regardless of where you are on your spiritual and life journey. I feel like Mr. Reid did a solid job of relating his own perspectives and sourced Biblical information in an easy to understand and digest manner. It will definitely open your eyes and change the way you think about Christ’s return to Earth.  A wonderful read, a definite keeper. And I absolutely love the cover! Recommend for readers of Christian, Spiritual nonfiction. (5 stars)

I suspect “The Kingdom of Heaven is at Hand” won’t be without some controversy, but many readers will happily gobble up this book by Craig Reid. It is a very coherent and impressive study of Bible passages to examine closer when and what to expect for the Tribulation, the Rapture, The Day of Lord and all the experiences surrounding the transition of spiritual power, including the Antichrist and later with the thousand-year millennial kingdom of Jesus Christ and his followers. I appreciated Mr. Reid’s well-thought out statements and arguments, and his evidence from scripture sources and his reasoning. Very relatable and quite convincing. He covers so many topics in depth and with a stunning amount of direct research to carefully articulate his findings. Thought there were just so many amazing ideas here, I challenge you to read the whole thing and remain unaffected in some way. Suitable for most ages (teens and older) and is definitely geared toward those with a Christian perspective.  I loved reading this and would recommend this to others without hesitation. (5 stars)

I think what I really liked the most about “The Kingdom of Heaven is at Hand” by Craig Reid was the tone in which he argues his premise in such an easy-to-understand and relatable way, and it is intelligent and respectful. There is a lot of narrative and it reads as nonfiction most of the time, but there is also times Reid writes where it feels more like a ‘conversation’ and explaining his ideas of the various ‘end times’ scenarios and implications, and why his perspectives are different from others out there (and why).  Although I identify as Christian, my Church attendance is pretty much relegated to major holidays, and I haven’t read much from the Bible outside of Church since I was a child. But reading this, and the passages the author questions and dissects, it was so clear how it  can help to explain a valid interpretation of a concept that is very foundational to Christianity in general and I couldn’t help but be transfixed… and inspired. I particularly liked the way he pulled direct quotes and passages to illustrate his points. A profound, carefully researched book that answered so many questions I didn’t even know I had! Seemed to be very professionally edited and put together, and I would be interested in reading other books from Mr. Reid if there are some.  (5 stars)

Wow, what an amazing book! I was completely sucked in from the beginning, and am so impressed with Craig Reid’s keen insights and ability to pull the most applicable passages of Scripture (King James version for the most part) to really underscore his message. It is clear that he is quite scholarly in regards to religious and philosophical Study and that, combined with his intellectual, analytical, and compassionate way of thinking leads him to probe deeper into the bigger picture of the plan for Christ’s return to walk on Earth amongst us… and it happens in ways that many Christians (like myself)  may not have heard before. This was so well-written and absolutely riveting. It is not a fast read, but should be carefully and thoughtfully studied and discussed. So many intriguing discussion points here, almost wish I could have dinner with Mr. Reid. Would be a fascinating conversation! Highly recommend for all Christians who want to learn more about the End Times’ Prophecies from a new light. (5 stars)

Despite what your beliefs are, or how seriously you want to take the lessons from the Bible (if at all) there is no denying that Craig Reid puts forth a well-crafted and engaging narrative re: scriptural re-interpretation of the end of days – from the Antichrist, the Great Tribulation, The Rapture, The Day of our Lord, Armageddon, and the path to God’s Eternal Kingdom forever. Makes this a terrific book to read, contemplate, and take away what you will. For me it was incredibly moving and inspiring to read these new theories and conclusions he drew from analyzing Scripture passages further. Never was I bored, and the pacing, formatting and editing was nearly flawless (save the intro with some proofing errors). It rejuvenated by interest in my faith and has inspired me to look closer at the events in our world and how it relates to our Lord and Savior and our Salvation. (4 star)

This is an uplifting book with a powerful message—a “must read” for anyone who wants to understand better the ‘end of the world as we know it’ and how Jesus will return, and how life on Earth will completely change according to more ‘literal’ interpretations of the (King James) Bible. This particular approach (as noted by the author) considers the Bible as absolute and infallible. Craig Reid gives very thorough arguments and ‘questions’ that help to understand the chronology of bible passages and quotes better, and answers with some compelling theories of his own … Even if you are not a hardline Christian there is a lot of important information here, and if nothing else is very entertaining to read. I’ll re-read this in the future and recommend to my friends and family. (4-5 stars)
